Building a passive income is something many of us aspire to do – but how many of us actually achieve it?
When we are struggling and counting every penny, the idea of being able to build passive income online may seem like a total pipe dream. However it can become a reality and passive income could even become your financial security.

It will take a lot of research and patience to get to the part where it is all working for you without much input from you but when it is there, the rewards will be golden.

1. Start A Blog
There are plenty of big bloggers out there who started out from nothing and now their blogs are making them so much money. Building it up will take time and dedication – you will need to spend time creating regular posts and interacting with your audience.
However once your presence has been established, the sky truly is the limit. Ways to make a passive income via a blog include running ads such as the Google Adsense program or utilising affiliate links for commissions. Don’t forget to consider the start up costs including hosting, themes and potentially hiring people to help you work on your site.
2. Write Articles For Ad Revenue
There are some websites which allow you to write and post articles on their websites. Visitors then click ads next to your articles and you earn a portion of the ad revenue from those clicks. There are a few different ad revenue websites out there – Hubpages and Squidoo are some of the most well known. If you love writing, then this is a great way to start to build passive income online.
3. Flipping Blogs
I know a few people who have started doing this and it is a great way to earn some quick cash. They pick up a decent domain name, create some content for it and add a great theme then sell it as a starter blog for way more than they paid for the domain name and theme originally. 4. Sell Stock Photos
Do you think you create great photos? Then why not try your hand at selling stock photography? Put together some images you think will sell well then pop them up for sale on websites that sell stock photos such as iStock and Shutterstock.
Sales can be slow and it will take some time to create a decent portfolio but this is truly passive once you’ve got a decent number of images up.
5. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is where you promote other people’s products online for a commission. There are various different programs you can sign up to. You don’t want to just be including affiliate links in one or two articles – they need to be readily available in as many of your articles as possible – as long as they fit naturally, of course! There is no need for affiliate marketing to be scary.
